who the hell is fantomex.
Jun. 7th, 2017 02:50 pm![]() Basic Rundown NAME: Fantomex / Jean-Phillipe / Charlie Cluster 7 (he prefers Fantomex). AGE: Christ only knows. He looks in his late 20s-early 30s. PREMISE: Mutant super thief with a talking space ship and the power to briefly warp reality into substitution-based 'misdirections'. Created for the soul purpose of hunting down and killing mutantkind, and being 'cool', marketing-friendly and consumable. Broke his programming and escaped, refusing to be anyone's solider, and deciding to instead use his considerable skills to fake a French accent and steal priceless works of art. Weird. Everything about Fantomex is weird, and multilayered, and questionably 'real'. If everything is synthetic, if everything is a carefully calculated illusion, a clone, a subterfuge, does that mean it isn't real? And what does 'real' mean, anyway? For more reject r/im14andthisisdeep posts, go to Fantomex. (xoxo it's all grant morrison's fault) First Impressions VISUAL: In a word: ridiculous. No, he never takes off the mask. Sometimes he pulls it up, though. Looks like a young Val Kilmer. FASHION: Sometimes the outfit doesn't have the stripes on it! But seriously, he always wears the same goddamn thing. DEMEANOR: Being able to read body language expertly means he puts special care into crafting his: confident, assertive, and with a little more flair than strictly necessary. SOUND: A French accent. How bad it is varies depending on SCENT: He canonically doesn't have one! Characters with a fine-tuned sense of smell will be able to notice that, though, and might be able to track him by the 'empty' scent in the middle of otherwise normal smells. I didn't come up with it, man, blame Morrison. MENTAL INFORMATION: NO DICE. He constantly wears ceramic dampening plates to keep him free of telepathic control. And you're probably better off out of his mind, because he's got, like, three fucking brains and shit. OOC BACKTAGGING: Go for it. I tend to be pretty fast, but I don't mind tagging with people of any speed or style. FOURTHWALLING: Sure, I guess. PHYSICAL AFFECTION: If he's able to evade it, he sure as hell will, but I sincerely wish you luck in the attempt. PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Please! Fantomex is pretty hardy (backup nervous systems and multiple brains and a healing factor and all...) and I genuinely love getting him beaten up. I'd prefer you didn't kill him outright, but since killing him outright is pretty goddamn difficult, don't worry about it. You'd have to either cut his head clean off or rip out his heart-- anything short of that, he can heal from, though his healing factor isn't as quick as Wolverine's. RELATIONSHIPS: I'm fine with shipping, with no preference between m/m or m/f. Obviously things will never work out with Betsy, but I would love the opportunity to deal with the awful awkwardness of that. (I have zero interest in writing Fantomex trying to kill Betsy, that was imo majorly ooc and can be blamed on him still healing from cramming his brains back into his head.) In general, Fantomex is incredibly conservative with displays of genuine feeling, and will pretend he's only trying to get into someone's pants even if he genuinely loves them. He's terrible with relationships or being forthright in any significant way, so a ship actually running smoothly or ending well is vanishingly rare. I'm most interested in Fantomex's ability to self sabotage close relationships, personally, but I'm not ruling out the chance for that one in a million. He loves people who absolutely awe him in terms of integrity and inner strength, and generally are everything he's fucking not. Wishlist & Notes CANONMATES: I love any canonmate CR of any kind, and welcome it! Same goes for any and all X-Men and mutants, even if he hasn't officially met them. Special mentions go to Betsy (obviously), Deadpool, any and all Wolverines, Evan (!!!!), and kids in general. Gambit, Rogue, Hope Summers (not for weird shipping, honestly I just want him to have to deal with the fallout of the terrible shit he did when he was fucking crazy), Emma Frost (remember that weird road trip where Fantomex got punched into the sky and then never heard from again), & Jean Grey. I'm not super familiar with the Marvel comics universe outside of X-Men and related titles, though; apologies if I miss something. CROSSCANON: I love love love worldhopping shenanigans, and Fantomex is built specially for it. If EVA randomly crash lands on the planet or something, I'm all for it. I think it'd be hilarious for Fantomex to have to deal with 'normals' as well, since he's never had to in any capacity and genuinely doesn't know how they work. AUS: Fantomex's unique weirdness doesn't really translate into AUing him into other universes, but I do like the idea of him visiting, and I'm super up for it. Let's do it! MISC: I'm only willing to play Fantomex when he has all his brains. This means I won't play him during the events of the post-Remender X-Forces. That said, I'm totally up for him dealing with the fallout of what he did during that stretch of canon, because he never... does. I love cross-canon shenanigans, being dropped into a different dimension, and weird aus. Go crazy, I'm probably open to anything. If you're worried, drop me a line! You can reach me @ |
